US President Donald Trump has fired a significant number of White House staffers working on the National Security Council, multiple sources have confirmed to Reuters. The move comes just weeks after Secretary of State Marco Rubio took over as National Security Advisor from Mike Waltz. The move follows an earlier one that saw the firing of three senior NSC staffers who were staunch defenders of Israel and were known to have close ties to Prime Minister Netanyahu. Following the firing of Elon Musk and the humiliating dismissal of National Security Advisor Mike Waltz for his secret coordination with the Israeli government on the Iranian file, the White House was quick to investigate the rumors of Israeli infiltration of the National Security Council. According to some sources, the results of the investigation proved the complicity of three employees in working to steer US policy in a direction that ensures the preservation of Israel's interests. They are: - Morgan Ortogas, deputy to U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff. - Israel's Merav Sarn, head of the Iran division. - Eric Trager, the Middle East and North Africa coordinator. Trump's team went further in the firing process, eliminating many staff members handling important geopolitical issues, such as the Ukraine war or the Kashmir issue. To dive into analyzing the dismissal of a significant number of National Security Council staff, it is necessary to understand its pivotal role in shaping U.S. foreign policy. It is the main arm of U.S. presidents to help them understand international issues. It guides U.S. national security policies and plays a pivotal role in making critical decisions about the administration's policy toward sensitive global crises. The NSC staff numbered more than three hundred employees under former Democratic President Joe Biden. The NSC is one of the most prominent advisory bodies in the US administration. It advises the US president and collects, organizes and evaluates security, diplomatic and military information from all agencies before presenting it to the White House. It also develops strategies for dealing and interacting with international issues. Founded in 1947, the council has undergone many changes. Presidents such as George W. Bush and Barack Obama have expanded its powers and doubled its staff, while other presidents have reduced its involvement in U.S. foreign policy. Now, Trump, in his second term, is different from Trump of the first term. His vision for U.S. foreign policy has undergone a radical shift, which is reflected in the White House's priorities and strategy for dealing with international issues. The president's team, led by Secretary of State Mark Rubio, has worked to reconsider the role of the Council and limit its influence in shaping US foreign policy. Rubio hopes to come up with a restructuring process capable of limiting the NSC's influence and making it a tool that is in harmony with the US president's choices rather than the other way around. The Secretary of State is expected to give the State Department and the Department of Defense greater authority to advise the president without running into the National Security Advisor's veto. The size of the council will also be reduced to a limited number of staff. According to Reuters, the expected final number of staff on the council will be around 50 people. The organization has undergone several changes since the US president's arrival at the White House White. Several officials have been fired after disagreements over international issues such as the Ukrainian war & Iran's nuclear file. According to Reuters, some of the employees who will be let go from the council will be transferred to other government agencies. Some of the departing employees could not contain themselves and broke down in tears inside the National Security Council building. Among the departments that will be completely shut down are the African Affairs& Multilateral Organizations and NATO departments. It is important to note the dangers of the purge and restructuring that Donald Trump's team has begun to undertake. It is expected that the parties affected by this process will move to retaliate against the US president and his team.
